What are the six kalimas?

The Six Kalimas are six short statements of belief and remembrance that children learn by heart. They are taught in Madani Panj Surah, Dawat-e-Islami’s book of daily recitations, in this order: Tayyib, Shahadat, Tamjeed, Tauheed, Istighfar and Radd-e-Kufr.

The six kalimas with meaning

Where are the six kalimas taught?

In Madani Panj Surah, Dawat-e-Islami’s book of daily recitations, which this page follows. The words of the first kalimah are from the Quran: “la ilaha illallah” (Muhammad 47:19) and “Muhammadur-rasulullah” (Al-Fath 48:29).

How long does it take a child to learn them?

Most children learn the first three in a few weeks with a little daily practice. The fifth and sixth are longer and usually come later.
