One-to-one Quran classes your child can take from home

Learning Quraan Academy has taught children online since 2015. Each class is live and one-to-one with a qualified teacher, lasts 30 minutes and runs on Zoom or Skype at a time you choose around school, homework and after-school clubs.

Teachers use an interactive whiteboard and screen sharing, so your child sees exactly which letter or ayah is being read. There are no books to buy: the teacher sends the digital course books free.

What your child will learn, step by step

Every child starts from where they are. A short level check in the free trial shows whether they need to begin with the alphabet or can move straight to reading.

  1. Arabic letters and their soundsAll 29 letters, how each one is pronounced and how letters change shape when they join. Practise at home with our free Arabic alphabet with sound.
  2. Noorani QaidaJoining letters, harakat (zabar, zer, pesh), tanween, sukoon, shaddah and madd, lesson by lesson. See our Noorani Qaida course for kids.
  3. Reading the Quran (Nazra)From short surahs to reading fluently from the mushaf, with the teacher correcting every word.
  4. TajweedRules such as ghunnah, qalqalah, madd and the rules of noon sakin are taught as your child reads. Older children can join the online Tajweed course.
  5. Duas, Salah and KalimasDaily duas, how to pray and the Six Kalimas. Children who want more can take Islamic studies for kids.
  6. Hifz, when they are readyFluent readers can start memorising with our online Hifz course.

Which age is right to start?

There is no age limit for our classes. What matters more than age is whether your child can sit for a short lesson and enjoys it. This is a rough guide:

AgeUsual starting pointWhat helps
4 – 6Arabic letters, first Qaida lessons, short duas2 days a week is often enough. Sit nearby for the first few classes.
7 – 10Noorani Qaida, then reading the Quran3 days a week gives steady progress. Ten minutes of revision on the other days.
11 – 16Qaida at their own pace, then Tajweed or Hifz3 or 5 days a week. Older children can manage their own lesson time.

Never learned before and already 12? That is very common. Older beginners use the same Noorani Qaida but usually finish it much faster than young children.

What happens in a 30-minute class

Thirty minutes is long enough to learn something new and short enough for a young child to stay focused. A class usually follows this pattern:

RevisionYour child reads the last lesson so the teacher can check it has stuck.
New lessonThe teacher explains the new letters or rule on the whiteboard.
Read and correctYour child reads aloud and the teacher corrects each mistake straight away.
Practice and duaA short task for the next few days, and often a new dua to learn.

Fees and how many days a week to choose

All plans are one-to-one and every class is 30 minutes. The difference is how often your child has a lesson.

2 days a week£29/month8 classes a month, 30 minutes each

A gentle start for young beginners.

Recommended3 days a week£39/month12 classes a month, 30 minutes each

Steady progress for most children.

5 days a week£49/month20 classes a month, 30 minutes each

Fastest progress, and the usual choice for Hifz.

See the fees page for full details, or start with the 3 free trial classes and decide afterwards.

How long will it take my child to read the Quran?

It depends on your child’s age, how many days a week they have classes and how much they practise between lessons. As a rough guide, children who attend three or more times a week and revise for ten minutes on the other days often finish the Noorani Qaida within six to twelve months; younger children usually take longer, and that is fine.

After the Qaida, most children start reading the Quran slowly and become fluent over the following months. Your monthly progress report shows exactly where your child is, so there are no surprises.

How parents can help (and keep online classes safe)

  • Use a quiet spot in a shared family room, not a closed bedroom, so you can hear the lesson.
  • Join from your own Zoom or Skype account and keep the class details with you.
  • Sit in on the first few classes to see how the teacher works with your child.
  • Headphones help younger children hear the sounds clearly and ignore background noise.
  • Ten minutes of revision a day makes a bigger difference than a long session once a week.
  • Practise between classes with the free Noorani Qaida online and the Arabic alphabet tool.
  • Tell us straight away if anything about a class does not feel right.

What parents say

Sarah AliMother

“We have started online classes for our children with the learning Quraan Academy almost 8 months back. Since then, we have had a brilliant experience with the Learning Quraan Academy. Initially we assumed that it won’t be easy for children to focus while learning Quran online. We started with trial sessions and realized we were not right.”

Muhammad SheheryarFather

“It’s an ideal teaching service. My colleague endorsed me this. I started with hesitation whether it will work for children or not. But I’m really very glad now for my children are learning the holy Quran without any problem. The tutors are very kind, even more than school’s tutors.”

Aiman MateenMother

“One of my sons has Completed Quran in 8 months and my daughter who is reading in the last 7 months and is on 18 parah. My kids are very glad with the Learning Quraan Academy. Frequently asked questions

What age can my child start online Quran classes?

There is no age limit. Most children are ready at around four or five, when they can sit for a short lesson and recognise shapes. Younger children can start with the Arabic letters and short duas; older children who have never learned start at the same Qaida stage but usually move faster.

Are the classes one-to-one?

Yes. Every class is live and one-to-one, so the teacher listens to your child the whole time and corrects mistakes straight away.

Yes. We have experienced female teachers for female students. Choose “female teacher” when you book your free classes.

How much do online Quran classes for kids cost?

Plans are £29 a month for 2 days a week, £39 for 3 days and £49 for 5 days. Every class is 30 minutes, one to one.

A laptop, tablet or phone with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection and Zoom or Skype. Headphones help younger children concentrate. All books are digital PDFs that the teacher sends you free.
