Madni Qaida in English Page 59 – Lesson 22: Tashahhud, Durood-e-Ibraheem and Du'a

Welcome to Madni Qaida in English Page 59 at Learning Quraan. This page covers the recitations of the sitting part of Salah: Tashahhud, Durood-e-Ibraheem, the Du’a from Surah Ibraheem and the Salam.

This page is part of Lesson 22: Salah (Recitations of the Prayer). See every page on the Madni Qaida in English index, or learn with a teacher in our online Quran courses.

What is on Madni Qaida in English Page 59?

  • Tashahhud (At-Tahiyyat).
  • Durood-e-Ibraheem.
  • Du’a-e-Masurah from Surah Ibraheem, verses 40-41, and the closing Salam.

How to Practise This Page

  • Read every line with Hijjay and Rawan, applying all the earlier rules.
  • Take extra care with similar-sounding letters: a change of letter can change the meaning.
  • Memorise one section at a time and recite it to your teacher.

The Sitting and the End of the Prayer

Page 59 gives what is read in the sitting (qa‘dah) and how the prayer ends:

Tashahhud: اَلتَّحِيَّاتُ لِلّٰهِ

Wajib in every sitting (qa‘dah).

  • اَلتَّحِيَّاتُ: Silent Lam, doubled Ta; Ḥa from the throat; Tashdeed on the Ya.
  • وَالطَّيِّبٰتُ: Ṭa heavy.
  • اَشْهَدُ: The Ha is soft and clear after the Saakin Sheen.
  • عَبْدُهٗ: Ain pressed; Qalqalah on the Saakin Ba.

Durood-e-Ibraheem: اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ

Sunnah in the final sitting, after Tashahhud.

  • صَلِّ: Ṣad heavy, Lam doubled.
  • حَمِيْدٌ مَّجِيْدٌ: Idgham of the Tanween into Meem, with Ghunnah: “ḥameedum-majeed”.

Du‘a-e-Masurah: رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِيْ مُقِيْمَ الصَّلٰوةِ

Read after Durood in the final sitting. The page gives its source: Surah Ibrahim 14:40–41.

  • رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِيْ: Hamzah Wasli is not read; Qalqalah on the Saakin Jeem.
  • دُعَآءِ: Madd Muttasil.
  • الْحِسَابُ: Ḥa, not Ha.

Salam: اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّٰهِ

Ends the prayer, first to the right, then to the left. In Hanafi fiqh saying the word “as-salaam” is Wajib.

  • اَلسَّلَامُ: Silent Lam, doubled Seen.
  • عَلَيْكُمْ: Ain pressed; Ya Leen.

For the full Hanafi method of prayer, step by step, see our How to Pray guide.

Mistakes to Watch For

  • اَلتَّحِيَّاتُ without its Tashdeeds. Both the Ta and the Ya are doubled.
  • A clear Noon in حَمِيْدٌ مَّجِيْدٌ. The Tanween merges into the Meem with Ghunnah.
  • Reading the Hamzah Wasli in رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِيْ. It is “rabbij-‘alnee”.

A Five-Minute Practice Plan

  1. Minute 1: Tashahhud phrase by phrase.
  2. Minute 2: Durood-e-Ibraheem, first half.
  3. Minute 3: Durood-e-Ibraheem, second half.
