Madni Qaida in English Page 60 – Lesson 22: Du'a-e-Qunoot and Salawat

Welcome to Madni Qaida in English Page 60 at Learning Quraan. Page 60 completes the Salah lesson with Du’a-e-Qunoot, the verse on sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, and a Salawat.

This page is part of Lesson 22: Salah (Recitations of the Prayer). See every page on the Madni Qaida in English index, or learn with a teacher in our online Quran courses.

What is on Madni Qaida in English Page 60?

  • Du’a-e-Qunoot in full.
  • The verse Innallaha wa mala’ikatahu yusalluna ‘alan-Nabi.
  • A short Salawat to recite regularly.

How to Practise This Page

  • Read every line with Hijjay and Rawan, applying all the earlier rules.
  • Take extra care with similar-sounding letters: a change of letter can change the meaning.
  • Memorise one section at a time and recite it to your teacher.

Du‘a-e-Qunoot and the Closing Salat

The last page of Lesson 22 gives Du‘a-e-Qunoot, then the verse commanding Salat upon the Holy Prophet ﷺ, Surah al-Ahzab 33:56, followed by a short Salat to recite.

Du‘a-e-Qunoot: اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّا نَسْتَعِيْنُكَ

In Hanafi fiqh it is Wajib in the third rak‘ah of Witr, before ruku‘, after saying Takbeer with the hands raised.

  • نَسْتَعِيْنُكَ: Clear Ain.
  • وَنَخْلَعُ: Kha heavy, then Ain.
  • مَنْ يَّفْجُرُكَ: Idgham of the Noon into the Ya, with Ghunnah: “may-yafjuruka”.
  • وَنَخْشٰى: Kha heavy; Khara Zabar two counts.
  • مُلْحِقٌ: Ḥa from the throat; Qaf heavy.

Surah al-Ahzab 33:56

The verse begins اِنَّ اللّٰهَ وَمَلٰٓئِكَتَهٗ يُصَلُّوْنَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ. Points to watch: the Lam of Allah is thick after the Fathah of اِنَّ; وَمَلٰٓئِكَتَهٗ has a Madd Muttasil; عَلَى النَّبِيِّ has a silent Lam and a doubled Noon with Ghunnah; and تَسْلِيْمًا ends with a Madd ‘Aarid at the stop: “tasleemaa”.

Finishing the Qa‘idah

A child who can read this page fluently, with the rules applied, has completed the reading course of the Qa‘idah and is ready to start reading the Quran itself with a teacher. The pages that follow are a question-and-answer review of the rules.

For the full Hanafi method of prayer, step by step, see our How to Pray guide.

Mistakes to Watch For

  • Merging نَخْلَعُ and نَخْشٰى. Both start with a heavy Kha, but the next letters differ.
  • A clear Noon in مَنْ يَّفْجُرُكَ. It is Idgham with Ghunnah.
  • A thin Qaf in مُلْحِقٌ. Keep it heavy.

A Five-Minute Practice Plan

  1. Minute 1: Du‘a-e-Qunoot, first two lines.
  2. Minute 2: the next two lines.
  3. Minute 3: the last line, ending مُلْحِقٌ.
  4. Minute 4: Surah al-Ahzab 33:56, slowly.
  5. Minute 5: the closing Salat upon the Prophet ﷺ.
